Help me with my life!?

I'm 17 have an IQ of 149 (Don't you find it ironic that would have a question lol) so im a genius I have a 3.0 in school I just do enough work to not get yelled at I hate school it is foolish to make people take cles they don't need for their desired profession (I know im rambling just stick with me) People tell me that since im a genius that i should have straight A's and be a doctor, physicist,etc. That it is my duty to because of my gift to cure aids etc (I think that these people are just to lazy to do it themselves if they want something done about a subject they can work on it.) All I want to do with my life is weld to have the power to manipulate metal fascinates me, no one wants me to be a welder they want me to be the next Hocking or Amadeus or Plato etc so they can brag on and on, and guess my question is should I use my mind to its full potential in my job or do what makes me happy, ofcourse i have a curious mind and would advance it in my free time doing stuff i enjoy.
